This project write-up is just a skeleton as all of the work was done in class. Joe Mross led a class at Marc Adams School of Woodworking on making a hammered copper mantle clock. The class was fantastic, first hammering the copper parts, riveting them together and applying a patina, with many new skills learned along the way. My engraved numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 did not show up well.
The only work done outside of class was making the hands from brass stock mimicking a design seen on the web. The hands were drawn on brass and then cut and filed to shape. The final assembly was done at home, but requires little discussion. Three views of the clock are shown below, two with the light shining through the mica windows.
